The contemporary history of our country is full of events that have shaken public opinion to the point of making its protagonists true symbols. The mafia massacres of 1992, in which Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino became sacrificial victims of a rotten and corrupt system, starting from the top of our society, had exactly this effect.
We can say anything except that Falcone and Borsellino are dead; the truly dead are those who still live in maximum-security prisons with files where "END PENALTY: NEVER" is printed in capital letters. The story takes place in Palermo during the 57 days between the deaths of Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino. As always, even in this case, there existed a parallel story to the one we all followed through the media. A story that did not find space on the front pages of newspapers or in the headlines of TV news. A private story, an intimate story, a personal story. A family story. The protagonist of "THE SON OF THE MAGISTRATE" is a twenty-year-old university student with dreams, ambitions, vulnerabilities, and hopes, the son of the magistrate most engaged in the fight against the mafia. The question that the author starts with for writing this text is simple and at the same time complex. While the world held its breath, trying to figure out who the next victim of the corrupt State-Mafia system would be, what happened within the four walls of a family living closely to the danger of death? How does the life of a twenty-year-old change when forced to live under protection? How much can a father's choices indelibly shape a son's character? These and many other questions are what drive every step that leads the audience to immerse themselves in one of the most atrocious Italian stories of recent times. How can a son believe in the future when, before his eyes, the barriers separating right and wrong, good and evil, the State and the Mafia crumble?
