On Saturday, March 22 at 6 PM, thanks to the Minims Fathers of Grottaglie from the Convent of San Francesco di Paola, a truly special meeting will take place. A young woman, at the age of 19, was forced to take a train and leave Istanbul because she was of Greek nationality and Christian faith, under the threat of death. Thanks to Giancarlo Antonucci and Daniela Rotondo from the Filellenica Association of Taranto, we will have the opportunity to meet this woman, Elèni Xenopùlu. We will learn about a story that no one has ever wanted to talk about. In the 1960s, priests were killed, churches were set on fire, and Christians were expelled from Turkey. Now is the time to remember and give a voice to those who experienced those moments. Elèni was a girl mentored by Patriarch Athenagoras, who never wanted to renounce her faith. A particularly special meeting will be introduced in Grottaglie by Dr. Ciro Cafforio.
