The exhibition will guide visitors through the museum halls, in continuous dialogue with the permanent archaeological collection, allowing them to closely admire the artifacts and appreciate the details and artistic techniques of light design. The immersive Christmas Edition tour will be available according to the December holiday opening schedule, through entrance tickets. Admire the forms sculpted by ancient masters by candlelight. It is said that stonemasons and sculptors loved to have visitors in their studios with the lights off, illuminated only by the dim light of scattered candles. Today, you can do that too! Experience a unique encounter in the former Convent of the Reformed Fathers in Pulsano, where? In the Archaeological Museum of Pulsano. Completely immerse yourself in the works of the greats of the past and visit our museum illuminated only by candles scattered here and there. Accompanied by our guides, you will better understand the importance of these absolute masterpieces of art and discover the unseen side of their beauty and uniqueness.
Museion Soc. Coop. organizes a suggestive, evocative, and exciting night visit inside the museum, during which it is possible to admire the collection of works and sculptures illuminated by lanterns and candles, moving through the museum's halls. An evening that will take you back in time, making you relive the atmosphere the masters breathed in ancient times in their workshops when, after a long day of work, by the light of torches and lanterns, tireless artists modeled sketches and polished marbles. An enchanting silence reigned at night in their studios, emptied of artists and collectors, where absolute masterpieces surrounded the intense work of the greatest ancient artists. A charming evening enriched by a visit to the MAP and experiencing its exhibition halls illuminated by lanterns.
A suggestive opening that, through a pathway illuminated only by the faint light of candles, will welcome you for a dreamlike visit. A rare opportunity to experience the emotion of visiting this historic environment, the former Convent of the Reformed Fathers, with the atmosphere and lighting of times past, rediscovering the most intimate environments where the Seraphic Reformed Fathers first and the Stigmatine Sisters afterward lived, contemplating the divine work through prayer and labor. With all other forms of lighting dimmed, the public can indeed enjoy the refined effect of candlelight through the exhibition halls of the MAP and the more intimate areas, normally lit electrically.
A real journey back in time, combining the charm of nighttime visits with the enchanting candlelight, creating an unforgettable atmosphere that will allow you to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of past centuries and discover how they lived in this place before the advent of electric lighting. The visit will unfold across the various rooms of the museum floor and will be conducted solely by candlelight illuminating the spaces. A candlelight visit in what once were the cells of the former Convent of the Reformed Fathers of Pulsano to relive the mysteries and suggestions of those places with an ancient flavor. The pathway to follow is lit by lanterns and candles. To make the experience more immersive, if you like, you can also take a candle to hold during the visit, making the sensory experience more special. You can bring it close to the showcases, artifacts, sculptures, and furnishings to closely admire details and aspects that escape the human eye.
According to the organizers, the "MAP ad Lumina" candlelight immersive tour is a type of experience provided by a museum exhibition based primarily on various forms of performative art: video, sound, images. With this project, the MAP reaffirms its commitment to overcoming physical, cognitive, sensory, and cultural barriers through sensory pathways aimed at encouraging inclusion and participation of people with disabilities in cultural content, in a multisensory journey during which some artifacts will be "discovered" through new modes of perception and communication. The resulting tourist product is made possible by digital images, light effects, and environment-specific sound effects designed ad hoc. Everything is projected in a physical space where the spectator moves, living this experience. Essentially, the senses "stimulated" are: sight, hearing, smell because, in addition to the scenic effects made immortal by the presence of candles scattered in the museum spaces, hearing plays a non-marginal role: sound design plays a fundamental role in enhancing the overall experience of immersive installations and interactive environments such as museums.
Environmental sonorization is a crucial component to engage the visitor and provide a multisensory experience. Sound design can evoke emotions and create the atmosphere of an installation, guiding the audience through the narrative. Using music, sound effects, and other audio elements, sound designers can create an emotional connection with the audience and make the experience more memorable.
The olfactory experience, for its part, with true olfactory stimulations, serves to engage the senses, mind, past, present, and future that, without being invasive, manage to trigger pleasant sensations and memories declined in various settings. By associating artworks with refined scents, the immersive tour aims to immerse visitors even more deeply into the archaeological collection. Smell is the only sense directly connected to memory and the brain's emotional learning centers. This is why smell offers us a unique way to experience the world around us. Our olfactory experience is intrinsically emotional and instinctive, simply due to neural organization. Although scents are powerful time machines, olfactory history has been largely underestimated. Now experts strongly promote the preservation and protection of odors as integral elements of cultural heritage and invite travelers to experience how complex odors can tell stories about forgotten places, traditions, and changing natural environments.
Consequently, the Archaeological Museum of Pulsano proposes this unique evening for visitors who want to relive this emotion, strictly by candlelight. Don't miss it!
