It has been thirty years since the massacre in Via D'Amelio. A wound still open in the heart of Italy. Many investigations, trials, cover-ups, and sentences for a truth, perhaps, too harsh to accept. The new production Meridiani Perduti Teatro, born from the synergy with the Antonino Caponnetto School and winner of the TRAC project - New Playwriting Section is dedicated to judge Paolo Borsellino, on the thirtieth anniversary of his tragic disappearance. In 2010, Agnese Piraino Leto in Borsellino, marked by a terrible illness, receives a phone call from former President of the Republic Francesco Cossiga: "Via D'Amelio was a coup d'état." Few words that inevitably bring back memories of a life, from when, daughter of the President of the Palermo Court and immersed in the customs and lifestyles of the high Palermo bourgeoisie, she meets for the first time Paolo, a young magistrate in Mazara del Vallo. From this moment starts the narration of her growth alongside her husband and the discovery of a different Palermo, less glamorous than the one she was used to, but perhaps more beautiful, even if unfortunate, going through the early years of marriage and the birth of their children. Up to recount the darkest moments, including the death of Paolo's friends and colleagues; the relationships with the escort that becomes part of the family; the difficulty of accepting the situation by the children. But also the other side of Paolo, the playful one always ready for a joke, the "babbìo". The work in the anti-mafia pool alongside Giovanni Falcone until his terrible death. Finally, the betrayal by those who should have fought by his side. All of this is "Agnese's Room". More than a monologue, an incessant dialogue between her and Paolo, which continues in the folds of memories, with tones of tenderness when it comes to their children and indignation towards the state traitors.
