American Jazz Masters a Leuca

**International jazz on stage and in the audience in front of the Lighthouse of Leuca: four Masters featured in the second appointment of The Lighthouse Concerts – American Jazz Masters**

**Ten years of Lampus: an idea that continues to grow**

There are places that seem naturally destined for great music. And then there are places that become such through a vision.

Ten years ago, Lampus bet that even at the extreme edge of Puglia, it would be possible to construct a cultural proposal capable of attracting some of the most important figures in international jazz throughout the year. Today that bet continues with American Jazz Masters, the project that characterizes the seventh edition of The Lighthouse Concerts and celebrates the first decade of the association's activities.

After the success of the inaugural concert on July 4th, the festival returns on Tuesday, July 28th, at 9:00 PM, in the evocative square of the Basilica Sanctuary of Santa Maria de Finibus Terrae, at the foot of the majestic Lighthouse of Leuca.

**An increasingly international audience**

The sold-out of the first concert reflected something beyond just public success.

Among the spectators were dozens of people from at least five different nationalities. Not merely passing tourists, but men and women who have chosen Salento as a place to live for a good part of the year, sharing with many Italians the pursuit of a better quality of life.

An international community now deeply rooted in the territory that, concert after concert, has become one of the most loyal components of the Lampus audience, contributing to creating a cosmopolitan atmosphere in Capo di Leuca where music becomes a common language and an opportunity for cultural exchange.

**Four musicians, four international stories**

The concert on July 28th brings together four artistic personalities from different backgrounds but united by a career built on the main stages of world jazz.

Dave Kikoski, an American pianist nominated for Grammy Awards, is considered one of the most authoritative figures in the contemporary New York jazz scene. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with true legends such as Roy Haynes, Michael Brecker, Bob Berg, Pat Martino, John Patitucci, and many others, standing out for his brilliant, elegant, and energetic piano playing.

Of him, Chick Corea wrote:

“The brilliant playing of David Kikoski just smokes. His playing is sparkling.”

Alongside him will be Mark Sherman, a musician, composer, and arranger, among the most important vibraphonists of his generation in America. A professor of Jazz Studies at the Juilliard School in New York, one of the most prestigious music institutions in the world, Sherman has built a career that spans from jazz to symphonic music to Broadway, collaborating with some of the greatest international conductors.

The double bass will be handled by Yuri Goloubev, a graduate of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. After a brilliant career in classical music, he chose jazz, collaborating with artists such as Bob James, Paolo Fresu, Enrico Pieranunzi, Rosario Giuliani, and Gwilym Simcock, recording over a hundred albums and establishing himself as one of the most respected European musicians on the international scene.

On drums is Alessandro Napolitano, an Italian musician with a strong artistic personality, known for his intense concert activity in Italy and abroad. Also shaped by a scholarship from the Berklee College of Music, he represents one of the most interesting realities of the new generation of Italian jazz.

**A surprise for the audience**

To further enrich an already extraordinary lineup will be the extraordinary participation of a surprise guest, one of the most esteemed Italian musicians on their instrument: the guitar!

This presence will make an already special event even more exclusive, destined to represent one of the most anticipated moments of the Puglian jazz summer.
