Rocco Papaleo stars in Nikolai Gogol's The Inspector General, one of the greatest masterpieces of Russian drama. Written almost two hundred years ago, but tragically more relevant than one could imagine, it is brought back to life today thanks to the direction of Leo Muscato. Russia, 1836: to control the lives and actions of his subjects, Tsar Nicholas I establishes a new State body called the Third Section. It is a sort of inquisition that pursues and obstructs all freethinkers, including Dostoevsky, Pushkin, and Gogol himself. In a short time, this system triggers a process of bureaucratization of the administrative machinery and exponentially increases the level of corruption among state officials. The Inspector General is an extremely funny satirical comedy that makes fun of the moral pettiness of those who hold power and consider themselves untouchable. Chlestakov is a frivolous traveler passing through a remote village who is mistaken for a high State official sent by the Tsar to investigate the conduct of the city officials. The misunderstanding leads to disastrous consequences for the "notables" of the small village - first and foremost for the Mayor - who will find themselves living the longest and most tragic day of their existence, fearing being exposed.
